The project was to rebrand an already existing organization to appeal with a contemporary design system to a millenial and generation Z audience. I rebranded the Metropolitan Museum of Art to showcase an expandable decorative pattern inspired by the Gothic architecture of the entrance to the Met, combined with an elegant serif typeface on a rich color scheme taken directly from the oil paintings within the museum.
I expanded on my logo design with website, merchandise applications, and business card designs that showcase the versatility of my brand vision and emphasize its elegance in its own right as it fits within postmodern design standards.
Client: The Met
Duration: August 2022 - October 2022
I created a rebrand concept for The Metropolitan Museum of Art inspired by its Vitruvian Gothic architecture, the ornamental geometry of its front entrance's arch windows, and the fine arts' love for pattern and ornament. This project contains motion graphics, merchandise design, website mockups, and brand design!
While its current logo aims to be versatile, vibrant, and a juxtaposition of the modern present with nostalgia in its sans and serif logo and color scheme, it is lacking in individuality, which my logo atones for in its singular aesthetic inspired by the Met's very own architecture.
Assets and collateral involved merchandise mockups with a brand pattern taken from the Met's window decor, and a Figma UI exploration for a new Met site. Feel free to open and explore the Figma link in a new tab using the button in the upper right corner.
