The work from my internship at ABRAMS involved design assistance with children's book covers, cases, and interiors—including type choice, and art spot illustration—cover conceptualization, and art editing. I also had the pleasure of designing marketing collateral, such as bookmarks, gift tags, and classroom handouts inspired by the books' artwork. Below you will see some covers of books I design assisted with, as well as marketing design assets.
I worked with marketing further to animate looping GIFs, which were in turn posted on author & illustrator social media accounts, as well as used on email signatures prior to book release.
Client: ABRAMS
Duration: June 2022 - August 2022
During my job, I animated looping promotional GIFs using illustrators' artwork, developed and designed printable handouts for school children, and designed a bookmark for "The Perfect Tree" for the holidays. I also edited and created artwork for books, chose interior and exterior typefaces, and designed a book interior for upcoming "The Lion Queen," a children's book close to my heart.
These handouts were designed with accessibility in mind; some kids are color-blind, even if they have color printers! So with each handout I designed a black and white version that I made sure to be legible.
